The promise of universal availability in this, the commerce-driven twenty-first century, has let me down. I didn’t even realize that this would be hard to purchase: all I wanted was a plastic model of a human embryo/fetus, for one of my model projects. Actually, what I really wanted — and thought that someone must manufacture it! — was a grow-in-water fetus, like the grow-in-water dinosaurs and brains and zombies and body parts out there. But no, even though the concept seems obvious, no one sells grow-in-water fetuses, or even any plastic fetuses except expensive ones for medical schools.
Well, you know what they say: If you can’t find a fetus, make one instead!
