So with at least two new books (and possibly one more) coming out this year, plus Salt Lake Comic Con coming up in September, I decided that it was time to get some updated headshots. And by “updated,” I mean “better than my face cropped out of family portraits or the pics I had my son snap with our crummy camera last summer.”
My friend Angela Ellsworth, who has previous done our family portrait and Alex and Nika’s engagement pictures, gave me a swell deal. I made the deal sweeter for her by requiring her to do none of the retouching — just send me the unvarnished photos. I know how I really look, not the lying lens!
So here are two I’ve touched up for various publicity needs.
I didn’t realize until I pulled these up in Photoshop that, for some reason, I unconsciously turn my left side toward the camera; out of thirty-five snaps, six have me square with the camera and only two put my right side forward; the other twenty-seven are from my left. I guess I’m not just left-handed, I’m really really left-handed.
If you’re soliciting input, the color version seems like a good fit for CheapCaffeine while the bottom is more suited to Eldritch, Arcane, Arkham, et al work.
For the record, I’m positively shocked (shocked!) that you look nothing like your robot avatar.
That’s what retouching is for. Duh.
