It’s the message that every artist dreads receiving: At the gallery displaying some of your work, a little old man lost his balance and stumbled into the table displaying some of your work, causing two of your pieces to tumble to the floor and break. (Details may be a bit specific.)
The two pieces in question were Ancient of Days:
But hey, when life hands you stepped-on lemons, make lemonade, right? I brought both pieces home to try and not just repair them, but make them more awesomer.
Here’s the repaired Ancient of Days, which suffered a broken leg and a popped-off eye lens:
I repaired the eye, making the injury very visible:
And splinted the broken leg in a combination of scrap metal bits and lots of epoxy glue:
And while I was at it, I added non-slip feet to each of the legs, to forestall a repeat in the future:
