So the biggest related news this week is that I’m not posting my sketches of the day to Facebook anymore.
I’ve been getting progressively more irritated with the “All Your Face Are Belong To Us” mentality there, and the final straw was when it was discovered that you couldn’t post a link to an essay on religious liberty — religious liberty! — at the official site of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Apparently, far too many hedonistic snowflakes had reported the page as “abusive,” so Facebook disallowed the link with a big red error box.
Just to test standards, I went to the official site for NAMBLA — that’s the “North American Man/Boy Love Association,” which is to stay an organization which SPECIFICALLY ENDORSES STATUTORY RAPE — and had no problem linking.
So I’m out. All of my personal posting now takes place at MeWe, a facebookish social media site which takes great pride in being non-Big-Brothery. I also post my sketches (and CheapCaffeine comics) on Instagram.
Anyway, here are this week’s sketches:
Yeah, well, in case you didn’t know, “In Your Face”Book (as some of my friends and relatives put it) is run by the extreme far-left, just like pretty much everything else out of Silicon Valley these days, and the extreme far-left hates religious liberty with a vengeance.
I remember back in the aughts when my brother tried to set up a Facebook account for me, and I refused even to log in. While I couldn’t and didn’t anticipate exactly what form of oppression the extreme far-left would exercise against me through Facebook, I had already watched these flaming fascists take over several sites I used to enjoy visiting and turn them into perversion-celebrating baby-butchery-promoting Christian-hating Democrat-narrative-spewing cesspits. Now, to my complete lack of surprise, I regularly hear cries of distress from those friends and associates who used to ask me why I didn’t want any part of social media.
I knew that, of course, but there’s a big difference between “tweaking the algorithm” and “nope, supporting religious freedom is abusive.” I mean, I guess I should be glad the masks are slipping, but…
